People's Devotion at Matthias Mulumba Parish

people16Bauleni (Zambia) 14/03/2010.- Lenten season that starts with Ash Wednesday is a time Christians remember the journey to Calvary. About 200 years after Christ’s death, Christians wanted to harvest the best fruits of Easter and therefore introduced a practice of having three days of prayer, reflection and fasting only to express their sorrow for the death of Jesus Christ. Looking at the spiritual meaning it brought on the lives of the people, around AD 350, which is roughly 150 years later, Christians realized that three days of preparation for the great feast were not enough and so they increased them to forty.
